Popular Myths
- Using the Delete Command in Windows or Dos actually deletes the file
- False – All it does is tell the PC this area of data is now available for data. Using the undelete command the data is easily available.
- Using the format command will make the data unrecoverable
- False – There are many types of format and many times the actual data is not affected. The format command usually creates a blank index, making it appear the hard disk is blank.
